• Weights.gg Shutdown: Weights.gg is shutting down in March 2026. The ML infrastructure costs simply don't align with what musicians are willing to pay. This is a reminder that only the big AI companies can sustain this kind of debt in the music space.
• Suno vs Udio: I've become predominantly a Suno user in 2026. While Udio used to lead in quality, Suno has caught up and offers more reliable outputs. Udio also shot themselves in the foot by not allowing users to easily download outputs.
• Record Label Deals: Both Suno and Udio have entered agreements with major record labels. Labels have deep pockets, and these AI companies have no choice but to play nice. What this means for the future of these tools remains to be seen.
• Less Technical Workflows: The trend is toward simpler tools. In many cases, you can skip RVC vocal cloning entirely and get good results. For local RVC processing, use Applio via Dione.
